English: We would find the hammer for him, and then he would have lost sight of the mark he had made on the wall, where the nail was to go in. Each of us had to get up on the chair beside him, and see if we could find it. We would each discover it in a different place, and he would call us all fools. Trying to reach a point three inches beyond what was possible for him to reach, the string would slip, and down he would slide on to the piano.

Bengali: আমরা তাঁর জন্য হাতুড়িটা খুঁজে পেতাম, আর ততক্ষণে দেওয়ালে তিনি পেরেক পোঁতার জন্য যে দাগটা দিয়েছিলেন, সেটা তিনি হারিয়ে ফেলতেন। আমাদের প্রত্যেককে তাঁর পাশে চেয়ারে উঠে দেখতে হতো আমরা সেটা খুঁজে পাই কিনা। আমরা প্রত্যেকেই আলাদা আলাদা জায়গায় দাগটা আবিষ্কার করতাম, আর তিনি আমাদের সবাইকে বোকা বলতেন। তাঁর নাগালের থেকে তিন ইঞ্চি দূরের একটি বিন্দুতে পৌঁছাতে গিয়ে দড়িটা ফসকে যেত, আর তিনি পিছলে সোজা পিয়ানোর ওপর গিয়ে পড়তেন।

Part 2: Text & Translation

English: At last, Uncle Podger would get the spot fixed, and put the point of the nail on it with his left hand, and take the hammer in his right hand. And with the first blow, he would smash his thumb, and drop the hammer, with a yell, on somebody’s toes. Aunt Maria would mildly observe that, next time Uncle Podger was going to hammer a nail into the wall, she hoped he’d let her know in time. She could then make arrangements to go and spend a week with her mother while it was being done. “Oh! You woman, you make such a fuss over everything.” Uncle Podger would reply picking himself up. “Why, I like doing a little job of this sort.”

Bengali: অবশেষে, আঙ্কেল পডজার জায়গাটা ঠিক করতেন, এবং বাঁ হাতে পেরেকের ডগাটা সেখানে রাখতেন, আর ডান হাতে হাতুড়িটা নিতেন। আর প্রথম আঘাতেই, তিনি নিজের বুড়ো আঙুলটা থেঁতলে ফেলতেন, এবং একটা চিৎকার দিয়ে হাতুড়িটা কারো পায়ের আঙুলের ওপর ফেলে দিতেন। আন্ট মারিয়া মৃদুভাবে মন্তব্য করতেন যে, পরের বার আঙ্কেল পডজার যখন দেওয়ালে পেরেক পুঁততে যাবেন, তিনি আশা করেন তিনি যেন তাঁকে সময়মতো জানিয়ে দেন। তাহলে তিনি সেই কাজ চলাকালীন এক সপ্তাহ তাঁর মায়ের কাছে গিয়ে কাটানোর ব্যবস্থা করতে পারবেন। “ওহ! তোমরা মেয়েরা, সবকিছু নিয়েই এত বাড়াবাড়ি করো।” আঙ্কেল পডজার নিজেকে সামলে নিয়ে উত্তর দিতেন। “কেন, আমার তো এরকম ছোটোখাটো কাজ করতে বেশ ভালোই লাগে।”

Part 3: Text & Translation

English: And then he would have another try. At the second blow, the nail would go clean through the plaster, and half the hammer after it. Then we would find the rule and the string again, and a new hole was made. About midnight, the picture would be up – very crooked and insecure. “There you are,” he would say, stepping heavily off the chair on to the charwoman’s corns, and surveying the mess he had made with evident pride. “Why, some people would have had a man in to do a little thing like that!”

ভবিষ্যতে কোনো কাজ ঘটবে বোঝালে Future Tense হয়। এর গঠন হলো: Subject + shall/will + Verb-এর মূল রূপ।
(সাধারণত I এবং We-এর পর shall বসে এবং বাকি সব ক্ষেত্রে will বসে। যেমন: I shall go, He will play)।

কোনো অনুচ্ছেদের মূল কথাটিকে নিজের ভাষায় ছোটো করে লেখাকে Summary বলে।
নিয়ম: ১. এটি মূল অনুচ্ছেদের প্রায় অর্ধেক বা এক-তৃতীয়াংশ হবে। ২. কোনো Direct Speech (উদ্ধৃতি) ব্যবহার করা যাবে না। ৩. কোনো অপ্রয়োজনীয় উদাহরণ দেওয়া যাবে না।

Write a summary of the given passage:

Original Passage: Then he would spring round the room, looking for his handkerchief. He could not find his handkerchief, because it was in the pocket of the coat he had taken off, and he did not know where he had put the coat. All the house had to leave off looking for his tools, and start looking for his coat; while he would dance round and hinder them.

Summary:
Uncle Podger searched for his handkerchief which was in the pocket of his misplaced coat. Consequently, the entire family had to stop their work to look for his coat, while he only disturbed them.

Narrate a funny incident that you have experienced in a short paragraph:

A Funny Incident at the Picnic
Last winter, we went to a park for a family picnic. While we were playing badminton, a very funny incident happened. A naughty monkey suddenly came down from a nearby tree and snatched a banana from my little cousin’s hand. My cousin was shocked and started crying loudly. Meanwhile, the monkey sat on a high branch and ate the banana while looking at us. We all burst into laughter seeing the monkey’s funny expressions. It was a hilarious experience!
