A False Friend / Two Friends and a Bear

Once upon a time, two friends were passing through a dense forest. They promised to help each other in danger. Suddenly, a large bear appeared in front of them.

One of the friends, who knew how to climb, quickly climbed up a nearby tall tree. He did not think about his friend. The other friend did not know how to climb a tree. He was helpless. But he knew that bears do not touch dead bodies. So, he lay flat on the ground and held his breath.

The bear came near him, sniffed his face and ears, and thought he was dead. So, it went away. After some time, the first friend came down and asked jokingly, “What did the bear whisper in your ear?” The other friend replied, “The bear told me not to trust a friend who leaves you in danger.”

Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.
